NOTE:  The Mosaic site utilizes and links to sites that use audio and video in a format developed by RealNetworks (www.real.com). This convenient format allows archived audio and video to be delivered via the web in a streaming fashion (plays while it is downloading).

In order to play real audio/video files, end-users must have at minimum: 

• an audio card and speakers

• 56 Kbps modem or greater (or cable/DSL connection to the internet)

• the freely distributed Real Player installed on his/her computer.

After downloading the software, you will need to exit your browser software, install the real player software, reopen your browser software, and access the real audio/video file.  Once the software is installed once, you may view real audio/video files at any site on the web. 

Note: RealNetworks has released a number of versions of Real Player over the past few years. If you are having difficulty with an audio and/or video clip, we recommend downloading and installing the most recent version of the player as a first step in troubleshooting the problem.
